LA ROMANA, Dominican Republic - Eight new immortal were inducted Saturday into the Hall of Fame Baseball Latino in an emotional ceremony at the Casa de Campo resort.
The Mexican and Venezuelan Fernando Valenzuela Andres Galarraga figures were the main winners in the second edition of the ceremony which has the approval of Major League Baseball.

"This is something great for me. Thank you for this great recognition that make me tonight," Valenzuela said during a short speech.

Valenzuela emphasized in his career with the Dodgers in Los Angeles in the early 80's, one of the most charismatic pitchers in the league and led Latin world attention to the majors.

Galarraga, meanwhile, finished his career with 399 homers and his battle with cancer was one of the biggest hits in the mid 90's.

"The desire to play baseball, to return to the majors was one of the things that helped me stay alive," Galarraga said in his induction speech. Besides

Valenzuela and Galarraga also entered the Hall of Fame Baseball Latino, Manny Sanguillen, Edgar Martinez, Luis Tiant, Rico Carty, Dennis Martinez and Oscar "The Black" Prieto, as a propellant.

He was also awarded a special recognition especially the third base of the New York Yankees, Alex Rodriguez, to become the Latin more homers in the majors with 613 homers in his career.

"I am very proud of this recognition is for me. Being here in my country, this is getting very important. Today I feel more Dominican than ever and this recognition is very important Latino," he added.

The ceremony was dedicated to the family of the deceased owner of the New York Yankees, George Steinbrenner, and attended his daughter Jenny Steinbrenner Swindall and other executives of the whole.

"My father would be very happy with this dedication and yet this act was carried out today in his honor, "Swindall said Steinbrenner.
